Specialist Registration via the Portfolio pathway
We are pleased to announce a one day workshop for doctors who wish to obtain specialist registration via the Portfolio Pathway. Date and time Thursday 26 November 2026 10:00am to 4:30pm Registration from 9:30am Location RCOphth offices 18 Stephenson Way London, NW1 2HD This is an in-person event. Attendance criteria This event is intended for doctors who: · Have an open, in progress Portfolio Pathway application with the GMC · Intend to apply for specialist registration via the Portfolio Pathway in the future Facilitators The event will be delivered by: · A College Portfolio Pathway Lead or Senior Assessor · Mr Robert Hulston, Portfolio Pathway Manager Overview The day will include workshops, presentations and Q and A sessions. The aims are to: · Build your understanding of the Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for specialist registration · Help you approach your application in a structured and practical way · Show how you can evidence capabilities using your own clinical experience · Provide direct access to senior advice, guidance and feedback · Give you the opportunity to work with peers and share ideas · Create an open environment to discuss challenges and questions · Ensure you leave with a clear plan for your Portfolio Pathway application Programme The programme will include an overview of the Portfolio pathway process, guidance on what evidence to submit, tips from those who have submitted successful Portfolio pathway applications, a practical exercise discussing evidence from a real application, and a Q&A session.
Attendance criteria
The event is specifically for anyone:
• With the intention to apply in either curriculum 2024 or curriculum 2010.
• With an open, in-progress Portfolio Pathway application with the GMC.
As places are limited, we would like to assist as many applicants that are thinking of applying or actively going through the process. The event will be relevant to applicants who wish to apply via Curriculum 2010 and curriculum 2024.

Overview
The day will include workshops, presentations and Q&A sessions. The aims of the event are to:
• Understand the differences between the 2010 and 2024 curriculums
• Demonstrate ways to approach an application in the future and to ‘think outside the box’ as to how one may fulfil the curriculum’s key skills and personalise it in line with your own clinical experience and skill set
• Create a platform for delegates to raise any issues and concerns and to get direct support, advice and clarity from the senior advisors
• Hold various practical sessions to give applicants the opportunity to work with other doctors in the same position and to spark ideas, solutions and skills together
• Create a safe space for questions and answers, speaking openly about challenges and concerns, with direct support, advise and clarity from the senior advisors
• Leave the day with a strong idea of what the Portfolio Pathway is all about, the possible approaches that can be taken; and how to align the standards to their own clinical background, experience and skill-set
